Been drinking Mississippi River water since birth.

My name is James Shaw and I'm 31 years old.  I was lucky enough to be born in New Orleans, where we like to say, "we're so far behind we're ahead."  It's true, and it makes for one interesting place.  There is never a dull moment in New Orleans.   I really do feel a connection to it all.  It's like the great John Goodman once said, "If I could put my finger on it, I'd bottle it up and sell it...some people just belong here."

I graduated from LSU in 2007 with a degree in Marketing.  I worked in the emerging 'Hollywood South' for a year before becoming an marketing intern at Massey's Outfitters, a local outdoor store.  (It's awesome.)  I soon became their Marketing Director, a fancy title which basically meant I was in charge of all marketing and graphic design.  I loved going to work everyday.

Whether I realized it or not, I had always had an interest in photography, but it wouldn't be until my father gave me my first DSLR, a Canon 30D, that I decided to really learn how to use it.  I started photographing everything I could.  Eventually people started paying me money for photos and odd jobs, and it slowly turned into more than just a hobby.  So after nearly 6 years with Massey's and a year abroad in France, I figured it was now or never.  In the autumn of 2014 I took the plunge and left Massey's to pursue photography full time.  So far it has been amazing, but now I need a new hobby.

And now we're here.

I love people.  I love to travel.  I love to experience new things.  I love capturing real moments.  I love photography and hope it shows.

Please let me know if I can do something for you.
